The Fort Ord National Monument offers world-class recreation for residents and visitors to the Central California Coast. Lands of the former Fort Ord feature 86 miles of trail across approximately 7,200 acres, open daily from dawn to dusk for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, wildlife and wildflower photographers, and nature enthusiasts. Riders can explore narrow singletrack trails across grassland hills or cruise generous, winding trails through oak woodlands and maritime chaparral.

This ride is designed for beginner to intermediate riders who are ready to build strength, improve fitness, and gain confidence on the bike in a supportive, welcoming environment. Ride alongside like-minded women as you develop skills, resilience, and connection on the trail.

All my husband wanted to do was ride with me. Help me feel comfortable riding and have no fear but I fought him every step of the way. Looking back I dont know why but maybe he would be a little firm with me and my body would clinch up and say heck no! But when Liz came into my life and we sat on the tailgate putting our shoes on talking about snacks and Gatorade and where we were going to ride I had such peace. She would walk me through the ride as we would go and my fear would go still being challenged she would stretch me but I felt her safe behind me that I could do it. I would end up doing it and now ride rides I would normally walk down getting upset with my husband. He is so proud of me! Liz changed my life on and off the bike!

What You’ll Gain from This Ride

This ride is designed to help you build real confidence on your bike while developing essential mountain biking skills in a supportive, encouraging environment. You’ll work on foundational techniques like body positioning, braking, cornering, and climbing, giving you the tools to ride with more control, power, and ease on the trail.

You’ll also be introduced to key mindset principles from Liz Donahey’s 23 Principles of Mountain Biking, provided as a digital guide before the clinic and a printed copy to take home. These principles are woven into the ride experience to help you conquer fear and turn it into fuel so you can ride more securely, pedal more strongly, and trust yourself on the bike.

We’ll focus on learning how to get into the right position to optimize your power and control, helping you move in the direction you want to go with strength and intention. That strength doesn’t stop on the trail, it carries into your daily life, building resilience, confidence, and capability both on and off the bike.

Beyond skills and mindset, this is about connection. You’ll be riding alongside a group of like-minded women who are here to support, uplift, and grow together, forming friendships, finding new ride partners, and creating a deeper sense of belonging in the mountain biking community.

And most of all, you’re going to have a lot more fun.
